Ghetto Bitches Vol. 2

Written by: Niambi M.

A dope event went down last weekend(May 3rd) and that was none other than Ghetto Bitches Volume 2! What started as a beautiful poem by Poetic Mama has now become a memorable event that celebrates BIPOC women’s creativity, talent, and ingenuity. The show kicked off with an eye catching fashion show and was followed by a number of performances that showcased rapping, singing, spoken word and dancing. There was also a local brand market in the back lot that displayed BIPOC owned brands. A nice variety of brands were represented from clothing companies to companies selling artisan edibles. It was giving black excellence, it was giving women’s empowerment and it was giving community. Saturday night was a dream and I cannot wait to see what the future brings to this awesome and innovative event.

Music perfomances by Puff, Polo Shay, and Cha Chocolate. Live Podcast by TYLE including: Sumer, Bina Shae’Nae, Jami, and Poetíc Mamá .

Poetíc Mamá ‘s (curator) future plans to look into grants to hopefully expand this event into a full-on festival.
